Dėdės ir dėdienės

The folklore ensemble "Dėdės ir dėdienės" (Uncles and Aunties) of the Butrimonys branch started its activity in 1995. The ensemble consists of people of all ages and professions who devote their free time to Lithuanian folk song and dance.

The ensemble's repertoire includes Lithuanian folk, Dzūkija region and partisan songs, romances. The ensemble performs songs from its own region and the Dzūkija region to promote ethnoculture, continue traditions and customs, and encourage young people to take an interest in folk song and cultural heritage.

The ensemble actively participates in festivals organised in Butrimonys municipality and Alytus district. The ensemble can often be found at events in the neighbouring municipalities of Kaišiadorys and Trakai, and close cooperation continues with the Alytus City Exile Choir. The songs of the folklore ensemble warm the hearts of listeners at community evenings and various festivals.

The ensemble has presented its programme and participated in the international festival "Atataria lamdžiai" for several years Kaunas. Alytus district was represented in the Song Day of the Lithuanian Song Festival "Čia mano namai" (2014), the Lithuanian Centenary Song Festival "Vardan tos..." Folklore Day "Didžių žmonių žemė" (2018).
