Nemunėlis

Gintautas Šmitas, the head of cultural activities, one day started to bring together school-age children who love music. And so, in 2007, out of that great enthusiasm and stubbornness, and long evenings of music-making, the activities of the little band "Nemunėlis" began.

For the children, it was not just a hobby, but hard and responsible work. Gintautas taught the children, who always gathered for rehearsals, musical writing and playing techniques, as well as how to play by ear and other subtleties typical of folk music. From the very beginning, the children played percussion, rattles and other simpler instruments. This is how the repertoire of "Nemunėlis" was gradually born, adding new Lithuanian folk children's songs and cheerful polkas.

The first generation of young musicians had already grown up and left Punia to study or work.

Although the composition of the chapel often changes and is renewed with new members, the repertoire is not affected and is enriched with new folk music works.

The group has been a guest at the Youth Days event in Kaunas, as well as at the neighbouring Jieznas events, and of course they are always popular and welcome at their local events and gatherings in Punia.
