Easter traditions introduced in Eičiūnai

On the afternoon of 31 March, the Friday before Palm Sunday, a workshop on Easter traditions was held in the Eičiūnai Leisure Hall.

Egg-waxing was taught by educator Milda Stanevičienė, organiser of cultural events at the Butrimonys branch of the Alytus Municipality Culture Centre. Egg printing using the decoupage technique was taught by Dalė Kočiūnė, Senior Librarian of the public library of Alytus District Municipality.

During the workshop, the participants not only learnt about the subtleties of egg printing, patterns, methods, various printing techniques, but also learned the old craft of tying "verbos". For Palm Sunday, they made a "verba" from the most common juniper tree in Lithuania and decorated it with blossoming branches of various plants.

The rich craft experience passed on to the pupils and the members of the communities will serve to create a real and special Easter celebration at home, spreading the message from one home to another.
