Laurynas Radziukynas School kicks off the season's opening celebration

Next Thursday, 11 May, the season opening celebration starts at the Kurnėnai Laurynas Radziukynas School.
You will have the most memorable experience of your visit - you will take part in the excursion "Let's take a walk around Kurnėnai School", try writing with a goose quill, this ancient art of writing will take you back in time and put you in the school desk.
Throughout the day, from 12 noon onwards, without prior arrangement, there will be educational activities on incense making with natural materials, jewellery making, candle making in the old fashioned way, wood carving, wicker weaving, ceramics, and colored sand scattering (mandala). The "Molio minklės" education on bread-leavened ceramics will take place from 5 pm.
At 16:00, the workshop on baking Dzūkija potato herd on a cabbage leaf in an outdoor oven will entice with its delicious aroma. It will be possible to taste real potato herds, just taken out of the oven, flavoured with "darycinis" and a sauce of crackling and onion.
There will be an exhibition of twisted bands by the folk artist Jurgita Navickienė, as well as an exhibition of Dzūkija woven bed covers, woven in a variety of patterns and colours.
There is a spacious play yard where there is plenty of entertainment for both young and old, with ethno games and a health infocampus with fun and engaging health activities.
From 19:00, the modern folklore group "Balti vėjai" from the Marijampolė Culture Centre will perform.
All the activities on 11 May will be free of charge.
Throughout the season, the Kurnėnai School will offer excursions and goose feather writing lessons from 11 am to 7 pm on Tuesdays to Saturdays, music and literature evenings every Thursday, supplemented by dance evenings and movie nights. There will be an outdoor play area.
It will be possible to book in advance the lessons on incense made from natural materials, jewellery ring making, bread-leavened ceramics "Molio minklės", old-fashioned candle making, wood carving, wicker weaving, ceramics, and coloured sand scattering (mandala).
